Laying biblical foundation to sustain a move of God
In honor of 500th anniversary of the Reformation, this year’s theme, Building on the Legacy of the Fathers, will be unpacked through the co-teaching of several Swiss spiritual fathers and the sons following in their footsteps. Father God never intended each generation to be orphaned, but to walk in the inheritance handed down to them. The Lord refers to himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the scriptures are full of the telling of the acts of God from one generation to the next. It is exciting to think that our lives are not unto ourselves but we are part of the greater purposes of God in the earth.
We look to the past because understanding what God has done through men and women just as ourselves gives us hope for the future and courage to be part of the great legacy of faith. As the Ten Commandments instruct, we honor our fathers and mothers that that our days may be long, and that it may go well with us in the land that the Lord our God is giving us. We honor what God has done in the past not to remain stuck in former days but to press forward and to pass an even stronger inheritance to the next generation.
